“My beginning paintings of dolphins started in 1988 after I read my first book on them, not ever having seen a real dolphin close up. During a two year period I painted eleven canvases, all done intuitively, from the heart. I painted and repainted each canvas until the dolphins began to look like dolphins and their environments fitted them. They weren’t just creatures swimming in the sea, it was someplace else.I live with an awareness of them, especially when I am worried.

Dolphins are a special brilliant species on our planet, reaching out in their angelic ways. It was through them that I realized my art was healing. It just came to me, that my friends and family and of course I, all of us were more relaxed and comforted in the presence of those dolphin paintings, which formerly surrounded us in the living room of our home. I knew it and when I approached the hospital with them, their Critical Care area just happened to need art in their colors. I hear from patients and families that they found comfort in those paintings.”
